Aims of LABDA

Support Dyslexics and their Families

  • We run helplines in Leeds, Bradford and Selby. The helpliners have been trained to give information on the subject of dyslexia-related problems.
  • We offer a befriending service to those needing support to get appropriate help for their children with dyslexia.
  • We produce Newsletters to let you know what we are doing and keep you up-to-date with the world of dyslexia.

Increase Public and Professional Awareness

  • We give talks to the public and professionals about dyslexia.
  • We hold meetings on relevant topics which cover dyslexia.
  • We supply information sheets about dyslexia.
  • We use the media to raise awareness of dyslexia at every opportunity.

Support Teachers

  • We supplied every school in Leeds, Bradford and Selby with the latest Resource Pack produced by the BDA, Achieving Dyslexia Friendly Schools.
  • We provide teachers with information about dyslexia.
  • We invite LEA officers and teachers to information evenings.
