What is LABDA

LABDA, as it is known, is the shortened name for Leeds and Bradford Dyslexia Association situated in West Yorkshire.  It is a group of parents, teachers and others who have a keen interest in dyslexia.  The Association was formed in 1987 by two mothers whose children were having difficulties at school, which was later diagnosed as dyslexia.  Two years later LABDA obtained charity status.  Currently we have a membership of 120 members.  We have a committee made up of parents and teachers. All the work is voluntary: we have no paid staff.

LABDA is part of a network of local associations which provide support and information at ground level. It is affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association.
